BIGGEST FISH COMPETITIONS FOR 2009 - Entry Optional (Sticky Request Pls Russ)
Hello All
In 2009, we will be running two optional competitions for all you Tardebiggers.
COMPETITION 1 - BACK YOURSELF FOR BIGGEST FISH OF THE YEAR
If you think you're the next Terry Hearn, Dave Lane or Jim Gilbert (ha !), then why not back yourself to land the biggest Tardebigge carp in 2009????
Entry is £10 per person.
Whoever lands the biggest kipper takes the collective pot !!! No prizes for second best. It could pay for your ticket in 2010 (?!?!?) depending on how many members enter. So, don't be shy, give me a £10er and you're in !!
Rules are as follows:
1. Full timers (i.e. Russ & Ollie, at this point in time) are not elligible for this competition. Anyone else who fishes more than an average of 3/4 nights a week may be classed as a full timer. Bailiffs decision is final on this one. Check with me if unsure.
2. Timescale for competition is March 1st 2009 - October 31st 2009 (i.e. 3 rod limit applies to all during this period).
3. If you want to enter, I'll need your £10 before, or at the meeting, scheduled for March 1st. I will be taking the money on this one, and keeping hold of it. Cash only !!! Entry will be closed after the above dates, as it wouldn't be fair for someone to enter half way through, and we'll also know what the "pot" is at the start of the competition.
4. All entrants will be given a receipt for their £10, and their entry will be noted in this thread, so that everyone knows who is elligible/who they're in competition with !!!! Let's have a bit of banter about this one, too.
5. Elligible captures must (a) be photographed and photos (both sides) submitted on this website and (b) must be witnessed and independently weighed, using proper equipment, by one of the bailiffs/Russ. If there's no one around, and you've got a biggy in the net, give me a buzz on (07917) 838604, and if I'm around, I'll come and witness. If I'm not available, I should be able to get someone to come and help you out.
6. Refunds will not be given, unless agreed by Russ and bailiffs.
COMPETITION 2 - GUESS THE WEIGHT OF THE BIGGEST FISH IN 2009
If you're a bit reluctant to back yourself, or even better, you're related to Mystic Meg, then this may be the competition for you. Guess the weight of the biggest kipper caught, in the timescales above, and if you're the closest, then you'll scoop the pot !!!
Entry is £5 per person, and everyone is welcome on this one, given that it's a random chance at winning.
All the above rules apply, bar rule 1, so get your fivers out, and I'll note down everyone's guesses in this thread for audit purposes. Again, please give me the £5 before or at the workparty/meeting. I'll have a notebook with me, in order to jot down your guess and publish it on here.
Good luck to all entrants !!!
Keith

Count me in for a tenner. I'd happily pay a tenner to catch a tardy carp of late.

The fish you are holding in your avatar, Scruff, is going to be there or there abouts for this comp, I reckon.

Re: BIGGEST FISH COMPETITIONS FOR 2009 - Entry Optional (Sticky Request Pls Russ)
Right.
Just wanted to re-ignite this little thread. I believe that the Stokemeister General is in the lead with his mosaic capture.
So far, the lads who back themselves are as follows, in terms of their best fish:
John "Hannibal Lecter" Howard (paid) - 12lb common
Dan "The Bream" Roadknight (yet to pay) - 20lb mirror
Steve "Chilli" (paid) - 23lb mirror
Les (paid) - don't think Les has had anything yet. (Les - correct me if I'm wrong)
Mark "Biscuit Baron" Walters (paid) - Les Dawson's got a cheque book and pen for you, Mr Walters !!!!
Anthony "Birdy" Bird (paid) - don't think the Barbequemaster has had anything yet.
Stokie Paul (paid) - Top Rod and leader with the mosaic
Keith "is it" Jones (paid) - 25lb common best.
Grant "Darth Treefeller" (paid) - 26lb fish - mirror I think
Ryan - (yet to pay) - yet to get off the mark, I believe.
So, with the big girl yet to come out, there's all to play for. Good luck to all, and see you on the bank soon.

Is it too late for me to waste a tenner ?
Only done one session up to now this year, but hope to be starting this week with an overnighter Weds/Thurs. Would've been there last week but the baggie fan forgot to return my reels and alarms he'd borrowed for a trip to France!
