So the res is turning into one of those secrect waters where no-one lets other people know whats being banked is it?
As i have heard people are jumping into swims that others are baiting or are catching from or even boxing them in by fishing each side of them where fish are coming from.
Shoot me down if you like i dont really care!
I have been baiting most of the swims on the far bank for six weeks and fish have come out of five of them maybe not the same spots who knows but so what we all pay our money and take a chance,if some one gets in before you and chatches then how can we argue about it no one has got exclusive rights to any swim on the lake.I have put abit of time into the net swim and i know others have put bait in too but im not bothered at all how can i be!!!!
If a person is baiting one swim on a lake(which i know has been happening on res) and every one knows then MOST people would steer clear it comes back to basic etiquette but saying that if your walking round and see fish and no one is there fishing would you/should you drop in and have ago?or do you just say nuts to the bloke and dump aload of your own bait in?
when i found out that others where having a proper baiting up in any swim i baited then i stopped doing it as my baiting up was not as serious as what they were trying to get going.
Every one wants to protect their fishing but then again every one wants to know how its fishing,no-one needs to know where/when/what on but people like to know weights and pics to I.D fish if i hear of a fish i put it on here rightly or wrongly but i never give details of where it came out or what on just who had and weight whats wrong in that?
come on fella's lets see the photo's
This is not a dig at any one just felt like it needed saying

Hiya Jas

Know what you're saying, and there's arguments either way. I also know what you're referring to. This is a really difficult one, because if we all respected other people's baited swims, we'd have nowhere left to fish !!!

My personal opinion:

CATCH REPORTS: I'm not going to put up other people's catch reports any more, as like you, I have, for the last couple of years, put up weights etc, but not where or how. Recently, I have felt that I've messed up a session for them, if you know what I mean.

It's now up to the individual to post up their pics/weights etc. Not me or anyone else. .

BAITING UP: I've been done majorly in the past, baiting up heavily, and having other anglers PURPOSELY fish that swim, because they found out what I was doing. They were sometimes in there when I wanted to fish, and had bought the same bait as I was establishing. I think if someone fishes a swim, PURPOSELY, because they know that others have been baiting it recently, then quite frankly they're a wanker (personal opinion). If someone drops into a swim, and doesn't know, or has had a quick word with the master baiter ( !!), then I reckon that's fair enough.

We can all tell when someone is genuine, and someone is moving onto swims they know are being baited. I couldn't do it, as if I caught, it'd be someone else's hard work that got me closer to the capture. Not my own work.

PS Me and Mark talked about baiting up the net swim, from this week on. Can we have a chat !!!?!?!?!?! Very Happy

Jim and I talked about the issue of baiting up, etiquette etc for a long time on Sunday. I've stopped baiting up at the end of last season. Mainly because of change of work and money, more than anything. I also know that some of the lads who are going to/have stopped baiting up already this year, due to "problems" that have been mentioned.

Whilst I can completely understand their decision, in the medium to longer term, it'll have a detrimental effect on the fishing/syndicate as:

* This means less bait going in, less weight gain for the fish
* The fish switching off earlier in the year
* The fish moving more and more onto naturals, due to less boilies/pellets/particles available, making them harder to catch
* Lads who like to campaign a water, being less inclined to re-join, due to not being able to fish how they want and/or being stitched up
* Less camaraderie between the anglers, which has always been one of the real positives of Tarde in the past
* Lads who continue to bait up/catch playing it close to their chest (and who can blame them), due to other members not putting in the effort and trying to piggyback on their work

I don't think there's a silver bullet answer to the problem. I certainly can't think of an anything which isn't obvious. The only thing I can think of is that we all get on the same bait, but (a) it'd be impossible to get everyone to agree to that (b) takes away choice and edges (c) when will the bait blow (d) impossible to "police" (I wouldn't want to even go down the Big Brother route).

Don't think there's an answer to it, other than doing your own thing, and not being a poaching knob. The only other thing I can think of, which is a personal opinion, and not one that I'd advocate as "official line", is for the poacher to be sent to Coventry, but that'll again have a bad effect on the atmosphere. I don't know what else to say. Hopefully the problem will go away, one way or another.

I certainly don't want to be part of a "political" syndicate, tbh, and there's a bit of an edge to it down there at the moment. I go fishing to relax, have a few beers/fags, have a laugh with mates, and chill. Hopefully, during that time, I might get the odd fish. I'm sure most of us are similar on that front.

That's my thoughts, following my chat with Mr Gilbert, anyway.

Like i said no one has any right to stop some one else baiting any swim but its down to your feelings on if you think its fair play or not. Myself if its known that some one is properly setting up a swim for a hit then i stay clear till they have done or been done Wink
I have had it on lakes before mate you start catching fish well and every one gets bitttttteeerrrr as and they want in on it so you get stiched up by:
A:they jump in your swim or do there best to mess it up
or
B:they cause trouble for you saying you are doing things your not
its just they way it goes on lakes that hold large fish even though we all want the same things ,beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

fuking hell lads, i have just been reading whats been said, what the fuk has happened to this sydicate, last year was the best fishing season i have ever had, with some of the best lads that i have ever met, finnally thought that i had found me sanctury, all that people have asked is to put a bit of bait in on the quiet, and i personally have just said that i dont want to publisise me pictures, what the fuk is the problem with that, what happened to being able to choose what you wanted to do with the fish that you have caught. ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuussssssssssss for fuk sake come back on the water, thats the only thing that has changed since last year, and the place has gone tits up.

It hasnt gone tits up! We are just going through a learning curve as a syndicate. By the end of the month (or sooner) noone will be going on about it!! There will be positives gained from this Im sure! On the whole we are an honest, intelligent bunch of geezers. Everybody knows the score and is taking note! Will be done and dusted soon!

Keep at em'!

No ones saying people carnt bait up on the quite but if people do it dont bitch and moan when others drop in on it ,if its made public knowledge then most people would have second thoughts about fishing over it.Not really bothered anymore as i think im going stay away till winter when it goes quite
