The Welshman strikes back!
I hear keith has been hauling during the night. Im sure he will be on here later with some cracking pics and tales of the one that got away.................
Re: The Welshman strikes back!
A HA !!! (as a certain Norfolk DJ once said)
After a 9 night blank streak, of epic proportions, I had a great night last night. Got down there for 9.30am (for the work party - cough cough), and set up on the Sleuce. No one turned up for the work party, bar the Scruff (who set up in the Long). Anyway, rods went out at about 2pm. 100s of gulls, so it was a two bait stringer out at 80ish yards, one at 40, and one down the edge.
At 6pm (ish), I had the first take, resulting in a 17lb 2oz MINTER of a turbo. If it had seen a hook before, it was a very long time ago. Another example of the future, and this one, given the looks of it's frame, is going to be BIG !!! Here it is:
Anyway, well chuffed, out went the rod again, but as the shite hawks had done one, I put about 50 boilies (or is that "13" !?!?!?) around the re-cast rod. At about 2 this morning, I had a very strange stuttery take on the same rod. Got out to investigate, and the bobbin was right up the top. I let a bit of slack off the baitrunner, and it just went straight back up. I struck into a fish, which was by now, a good 50 yards to the right of where I'd cast. It had kited on a tight line, and only given me a couple of bleeps. It was on for about 30 seconds, but that horrible feeling happened as the hook pulled. Bah !!
New rig, baited and readied, I went to replace the same rod back on the spot, and gave it the biggun (flurocarbon !!), and it landed about 30 yards in front of me, as the line tangled around the second eye. After a complete re-set up, I whacked it back out there, with no more kerfuffle. Another 50 X 13s went out there, and back in the bag.
At 4.45am, I had a one toner, and struck into a fish that had already taken some line. Bit of a scrap - certainly not spectacular, but steady. Anyway, as I parted the net, I recognised one of the "oldies", known as "Mojo", which Stokie had this season off the top, but apart from that, doesn't come out regularly. One I haven't caught before, too. Tidy darts, butt !!! And Cardiff won 4 - 0. Here she is............thanks to the Scruff for the 'graphs. Hopefully it'll be me the other side of the camera next time mate (stop using them PVA hooks !!).
Just off to check my Lottery ticket now.
