The Gate to the Car Park
Hello All
Couple of points............the lock to the car park gate broke last night/this morning. Please use the gate as you normally would until it is fixed (i.e. close it).
Secondly, the gate is being left open by some people coming in/going out. I don't know who it is. I'm not pointing fingers, or having a witch hunt. I don't even WANT to know who it is. However, it's important that the gate is locked EVERY time someone comes in, or goes out. We've had a couple of non anglers and prospective members parking their cars in the car park over the past two weeks (perfectly innocently, having driven up Grimley Lane, and seeing the gate open), and then being locked in by one of our lot closing the gate. This has caused some problems for the anglers who are there - especially on the canal bank - as they have to go and let these people out. This, not only means that we've had to wind in (which is a pain in the arse) and go and let people out (which is a pain in the arse), but also, I've (and others) had to leave kit unattended for 5 - 10 minutes. Which I don't like doing, just because someone's too lazy to close the gate. I'm sure we'd all agree that if you had stuff nicked, just because a fellow angler couldn't be bothered to close the gate, then you'd be fuming. And rightly so.
If someone's following you out of the car park within 5 minutes, then there's no problem with leaving the gate open for the next person. That's the only circumstance to leave the gate open. If you're going to the shops - close the gate please.
It's got to the point over the last couple of weeks, where the gate is open as much as it's closed, when I've driven up. That's completely unacceptable.
Summary - please close the gate, whether you're coming in, or going out.
Thanks
Keith

I think anyone found leaving the gate open should have a corner cut off their card maybe then they will relise how important it is to close the gate and protect what they pay for!
