Pairs Match - Who's Up for it?
Hiya chaps
Danny Roadknight came up with a great idea the other day. He's suggested a pairs match, hopefully, some time in May (when the fish are biting - I blobbed again last night). Carp only.
Just trying to guage interest in this idea for now.............
We were thinking £30 entry "fee" per pair. Money held by a marshall. Start Friday lunchtime/evening. Draw for pre-determined swims (i.e. swims not too close to each other - say House, Long, Jim's, Bay, Caravan, Mallins/Russ's, Island, Gully). 4 rods per pair. Finish on Sunday mid day. BBQ/few bevvies Sunday afternoon. Winners take "the pot" of money.
It'd be good for the new members to meet some of the chiselled old farts who have fished Tarde for yonks, and generally, a bit of fun.
Who's up for it? Once I guage interest, we'll put some more "meat on the bones" if there's enough people wanting to take part.
Cheers
Keith

Not much interest, so far, then, bar Mike and Simon wanting to play "army" !!!!
Guys - if you want to run around in camo and shoot spud guns at each other, you can do it up there any day of the week !!!

I think the fairest way members/non members dont matter would be to split into two groups one group put there name in a hat the other group take turns to pick one out who everys name you pick out thats who you pair with stops any unfair tactics or pre ideas on how you are going to fish and i belive would make you fish better as you will have to discuss in more detail on how to attack you swim

Why does everyone wanna pair with a non member, doesnt this syndicate like each other or what?
Re: Pairs Match - Who's Up for it?
People must think they have mates that fish better then the members !!

No its what we were all thinking! I think its a sorry affair that people want to bring in non members. A pairs match should be about the camaraderie of the syndicate not to see whos the best. Its unlikely that its going to be down to an individuals ability anyway because the res is so peggy!
It literally is the luck of the draw on a water like this me finks!

Re: Pairs Match - Who's Up for it?
really if this friendly match is going ahead then i think it doesn't matter member/nonmember its all a bit of fun,,it would be different if there was a free syndicate membership up for grabs for next year then of course members ONLY is that something you can arrange Keith????

Re: Pairs Match - Who's Up for it?
I've got to speak to Russ about (a) non members participating and (b) Simon's (rather cheeky ) suggestion regards a free ticket for next year to the winners (not sure how that'll go down). To be honest, I can't see (b) happening !!
My view is that if we can get 8 pairs of Tarde members, then all the better. One of the key reasons for doing it, is so new members can meet older members, shoot the shit, and have a social BBQ/beer afterwards. If we don't get enough interest, my view is that we COULD potentially open it up to non members.
We're going to be setting a date soon for a meeting up the Cross Inn. We'll be discussing the net, the pairs match, I'd imagine Dean (Cov Carp Leads) will want to show you all his leads etc and AOB.
Cheers
